NewsChannel 5 Anchor Danita Harris is teaming up with the Cleveland Animal Protective League during the month of October to promote animal adoptions. Harris and the Cleveland APL are raising awareness about shelter animals being the number-one choice for families looking for an adoptable animal to take home as a pet.  The Cleveland APL excels at matching people and entire families with the shelter animal that best completes their life.

“I am excited to be the APL’s Celebrity of the Month!” Harris said, “It was easy to say yes to the invitation because I know that behind all of the hard work that the APL does to protect and place animals in good homes, they also give the animals a lot of love.  This is a great opportunity to spread the word about the wonderful work of the Cleveland APL.”

In honor of Danita’s support and commitment to helping shelter animals find loving homes, the Cleveland APL will be reducing cat and kitten adoption fees to just $5 during the whole month of October.

Throughout the month of October, Harris features an adoptable animal from the Cleveland APL each week. She invites viewers to come and visit the Cleveland APL and its wonderful animals and maybe just find their newest family member.

All animals are spayed-neutered, tested for heartworm or FELV/FIV, have received age appropriate vaccinations and treatments of worms and fleas, and come with a collar and personalized ID tag, helpful species-specific animal care information, a starter bag of Hill’s Science Diet pet food, and a free initial veterinary exam. Cats/Kittens come with a travel box, and dog/puppy adoptions include a leash.  All adoptable animals can be seen on our adoptable animals page of our website. Please call the APL at 216-771-4616 with any questions about adopting.
