Northeast Ohio animal welfare groups unite and team up with PetSmart Charities® for a “My Furry Valentine” cat adoption extravaganza during the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend!
(Cleveland, February 7, 2011) – Humane societies and rescue groups in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina and Summit counties are teaming up with each other and PetSmart Charities ® this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, February 11th – 13th for a “My Furry Valentine” cat adoption promotion.
Cats continue to pour into shelters and rescue group foster homes at a rate of about 3-4 times that of dogs, so in response, an unprecedented 11 animal welfare organizations from across the region have come together and are reducing their cat adoption fees to send a strong message in a unified voice that these wonderful animals deserve their chance for love and to be YOUR furry Valentine!
On February 11th – 13th, during the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend, adoption fees will be reduced to $14 for the first adult cat (aged 5 months and up) or $50 for the first kitten (less than 5 months old) adopted to each household. All cats and kittens will be spayed or neutered, tested for FeLV and/or FIV (please check with each organization for details), have received age-appropriate vaccinations, and treatment for worms and fleas. These fees will be honored by the groups listed below at their shelters and/or the PetSmart ® store locations listed below. There will also be many deserving dogs available for adoption at these locations. All adoptable animals can be seen on the websites of participating groups
