Voting Leave

Given this year’s unknowns about the impact of social distancing on voting in the upcoming statewide election and the time it will take to vote, employees who do not have sufficient time outside of working hours to vote by or on November 3rd, may request paid Voting Leave of up to four (4) hours. Voting Leave may be used between the start of early voting on October 5th through Election Day on November 3rd either to vote in person or deliver a mail-in ballot to a designated ballot drop box. Supervisors will stagger the scheduling of Voting Leave to ensure adequate staffing for animal or client care. Employees wanting to request Voting Leave must notify their supervisor as soon as, but no less than five (5) working days prior to the day being requested. Alternatively, supervisors may assign employees to a day based on staffing in their department.

Whether voting early or on Election Day or in person or by mail, all employees are strongly encouraged to vote using the method that fits their schedule, comfort with public gatherings, and personal beliefs.
