CLEVELAND, OH (September 14, 2009) – You heard correctly!  For only $5.00 cat adopters can receive a generous helping of love and companionship from the Cleveland Animal Protective League!  On Saturday September 19th, all cats ages 5 months and older will be available for only $5, and kittens under 5 months will have an adoption fee of only $20.  You can also “super size” your kitten adoption by adding an adult companion cat (5 months and older) to mentor your kitten for no additional charge.

“It’s a fact that pets are good for your health,” said Executive Director Sharon Harvey.  “They provide unconditional love and companionship.  Research has shown that pets can help reduce stress and blood pressure in owners and increase longevity in people who’ve had heart attacks.  In fact, a study conducted at the University of Minnesota and published earlier this year concluded that cat owners were 40% less likely to suffer a fatal heart attack than people who didn’t have a cat.

“Based on this information, every adoption is win-win: a deserving cat gets a loving home and the adopter gets a friend for life who will improve his or her health and well-being—all for only five dollars.  And remember, they also come with 100% of your daily recommended amount of love!” Harvey added.

All cats are spayed-neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV, have received age-appropriate vaccinations and treatment for worms and fleas, and come with a collar and an APL ID tag, a travel box, helpful species-specific animal care information, and a free initial veterinary exam.
