$5 Friday, $6 Saturday, $7 Dollar Sunday!

On a busy summer day, the Cleveland APL will take in 60 cats and kittens in need of shelter, love, and a new home! Programs established by the Cleveland APL, like Trap-Neuter-Return* (TNR), are working hard to decrease the number of cats coming into the shelter, but it will take time before the full impact is felt. What is needed RIGHT now are loving homes for the hundreds of cats we take in each week and who are in our care right now. If you have been thinking of adopting a feline companion, now is the time to do it. Come to the Cleveland APL this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, and make a wish come true for a cat in our shelter – the wish to get out of a cage in into your heart and home.

On August 19, 20, and 21, 2011, one adult/senior cat (5 months and older) can be adopted for the adoption fee of $5.00 on Friday, $6.00 on Saturday, and $7.00 on Sunday. Any kitten (under 5 months) or second cat adoption fee will be only $20.00. Each adoption will also include a free starter bag of Hill’s Science Diet cat food, a collar, and an engraved, personalized identification tag (courtesy of a grant provided by the ASPCA®). (Regular adoption fees for cats are $45 for adults and $95 for kittens).

“This summer, finding homes for all the cats and kittens that have come through our doors has been a tremendous challenge. We have turned to our community in times of need and we haven’t been disappointed, yet. We are privileged to be surrounded by people who care about what happens to these animals,” said Cleveland APL’s Executive Director Sharon Harvey. “And now, we need you to care again – our cages are full. In response, we’re reducing our adoptions fees so we can save more lives. Please adopt this weekend – you’ll not only be helping to save the cat you adopt, but also the next resident of that cage!”

* The TNR Program offers very low cost spay and neuter surgery to caretakers of feral or free-roaming cats or kittens. This program includes rabies and FVRCP vaccines, and ear tipping and is available for only $10.00 to all Cuyahoga County residents. End the cat overpopulation crisis. All animals are spayed-neutered, tested for heartworm or FELV/FIV, have received age appropriate vaccinations and treatment of worms and fleas, and come with a collar and APL ID tag, helpful species-specific animal care information, and free initial veterinary exam. Cats/Kittens come with a travel box and dogs/puppy adoptions include a leash.
