IN RESPONSE – CAT AND DOG ADOPTION FEES ARE BEING DRAMATICALLY REDUCED OR WAIVED THIS WEEKEND!
Not only is summertime a time for family and friends, but it’s a great time of year to spend with an adopted cat or dog, which helps the Cleveland APL as it’s also a time of year when homeless animals overwhelm the shelter. So, in honor of “Adopt-a- Shelter-Cat-Month,” as well as to empty our cages for the scores of animals that need to come in, the Cleveland APL is waiving the adoption fees for all of our fabulous adult cats and reducing the fee for all of our other four-legged friends – kittens, puppies and adult dogs!
This Saturday and Sunday (June 4-5, 2011), the adoption fee for adult cats (5 months and older) will be waived and a second adult cat can be adopted for only $10.00. The adoption fee for kittens (under 5 months) will be only $20.00, adult dogs (5 months and older) only $50.00 and puppies (under 5 months) only $100.00. Each adoption will also include a free starter bag of Hill’s Science Diet pet food, a collar, and an engraved, personalized identification tag. (Regular adoption fees are $45 for adult cats, $95 for kittens, $85.00 for adult dogs,, and $150.00 for puppies.)
“This is the time of year when our shelter becomes overwhelmed with animals in need, and in the past two weeks, our animal intake has skyrocketed!” says Sharon Harvey, Executive Director of the Cleveland APL. “Everyday we are faced with the challenge of finding space and resources to help all of the animals that come through our doors. So now, we’re asking people who are considering adding a four-legged friend to their family to be a part of our effort to save lives by adopting this weekend and giving these animals a healthy and happy future.”
All animals are spayed-neutered, tested for heartworm or FELV/FIV, have received age appropriate vaccinations and treatments of worms and fleas, and come with a collar and personalized ID tag, helpful species-specific animal care information, 30 days free Sheltercare insurance, and a free initial veterinary exam. Cats/Kittens come with a travel box. Dog/puppy adoptions include a leash.
