Every year thousands of animals arrive at the Cleveland APL, one of Northeast Ohio’s largest humane society. Some are surrendered by owners who can no longer care for them, some are strays, while others are rescued by the APL’s Humane Investigations team from abuse and neglect.
We continue to be faced with a steady stream of people who can’t keep their pets, animals left behind to fend for themselves after their families moved, and animals who have fallen victim to their owner’s anger or neglect. The Cleveland APL is often the only safe haven for animals with no other options and thankfully we are here every single day to help make a difference in their lives.
We hope you will consider supporting the Cleveland APL’s Cold Noses, Warm Hearts ~ Fur Ball 2014, to be held Saturday, November 1, at the InterContinental Hotel. The support that friends like you provide to our organization is critical to the APL so we can continue expanding our veterinary treatment options, increasing adoptions, fighting pet overpopulation and developing more life-saving options for the animals in our care.
As a private, nonprofit organization, the APL receives no government funding to support our operations. We rely solely on donations to operate the shelter, investigate animal cruelty, provide medical care for our animals, and educate the community. While we hope every animal who comes to us finds a new home as quickly as possible, there is no limit on the amount of time an animal may stay at the APL. We care for every friendly, healthy animal until we find them a new family…and thanks to our Second Chance Program, we’ve extended that commitment to an increasing number of animals with treatable illnesses and injuries.
