Adoption fees dropped Thursday, May 25 through Saturday, May 28!
CLEVELAND, OH (May 24, 2016) – Last week, the Cleveland Animal Protective League Humane Investigators opened 23 new cases of suspected cruelty and/or neglect. In just six days, they brought in 33 cats and 23 dogs. While none of these animals are currently available for adoption, our kennels are now completely full. We need the community’s help.
The Cleveland APL does not have room for ONE MORE animal in our shelter. The number of animals that need our help has exceeded our cage space but we will NOT euthanize healthy, friendly animals or animals with treatable illnesses to make space. However, including the animals brought in by our Humane Investigations team in the past week, we’ve taken in 185 cats and 61 dogs in need. We only adopted out 96 cats and 31 dogs in this same time period. Unless we find more adopters, this will continue until we reach a point we can’t bring in anymore animals except through our Humane Investigations team. That means we need to do a huge number of adoptions NOW and we’re asking our community for help. In order to keep helping other animals in need, we need to find homes for the animals that are already in our care.
For that reason, Thursday, May 26 through Saturday, May 28, the adoption fee for adult dogs over 1 year will be reduced to only $40. Adult cats over 1 year will be available for adoption for only $5, with a second cat for only $20. (Regular adoption fees are $95 for adult dogs and $45 for adult cats.)
