They’re quirky and they’re kooky…and sometimes a little drooly…they’ll stand by you when it’s spooky…add a canine to your family! The Cleveland Animal Protective League is giving our canine adopters one more treat this October for Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog month. On Howl-o-Weekend, Friday October 30th and Saturday October 31st all of our dog adoption fees will be reduced by $10.31. In addition to reduced adoption fees, the first 10 dog adopters of the day will also receive a voucher for a free large bag of Science Diet, valued at up to $45.00, which can be redeemed at any pet supply store. The $10.31 discount on our “kooky” dogs is in addition to our month long “Go-Green: Adopt a Hybrid” promotion which includes:
- A FREE four-pound bag of Science Diet dog food
- The new 2010 APL calendar for only $5 (a 50% discount)
- A FREE Adopt*Protect*Love compassion bracelet

- 50% off microchips. They will be available for only $10!
“Every staff member at the APL hopes that every dog we have up for adoption will get the TREAT of going home with their new family by the end of Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month,” said Sharon Harvey, Executive Director. “This Howl-o-Weekend is the perfect time to bring home the treat of a lifetime—a new, furry best friend!”
Also, the Cleveland APL urges every pet owner, new or old, to take special care of their furry family members during the trick-or-treat hours and other bewitching, Halloween festivities. All pets should be keep in a quiet, secure place inside the home when the door is opening to trick-or-treaters so they don’t become stressed by noise and strangers in odd costumes and try to run away in fear or fall victim to pranks.
All dogs are spayed-neutered, tested for heartworm, have received age appropriate vaccinations and treatment of worms and fleas, and come with a leash, collar and APL ID Tag, a free initial veterinary exam, and are eligible for 30 days of free ShelterCare pet insurance.
